Formula 1 Betting and Odds at NetBet Sport
Fast, furious and very dangerous. There are few sports as exciting as Formula 1. Cars speeding around at 200+ miles per hour, pace, power and performance all come together. There are few spectacles in world sport quite like it.
Formula 1’s humble beginnings date back to 1901 and through the early 1920s in Europe. This is the first time we see the term ‘Grand Prix’ used to describe a race. It had begun to take shape through the late 1880s in France as cars and technological advancements progressed and the idea of competitive racing began to take its form. The first competitive circuits were places like Le Mans in France, Targa Fiorio in Italy and the German circuit, Kaiserpreis.
With the sport progressing, In 1946 the FIA (Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile) was formed establishing the basic rules and regulations needed for a racing world championship. At the end of the 1949 season the FIA announced that races in 1950 would come together. A Grand Prix World Championship for Formula One drivers was created. A scoring system was established and seven races were deemed suitable. The first race of the World Championship was held on May 13, 1950, at Silverstone in the UK.
From there on the sport went from strength to strength. Advancements in technology, aerodynamics, car design and importantly safety means today cars can reach record speeds and tracks have become far more advanced and testing. Famously in 1994, iconic driver Ayrton Senna was killed in the San Marino and this caused a huge backlash and calls for safety measures to be more stringent.
As we move into the modern era, we can see the effect of aerodynamics, closer racing and the lessons of the past all come together in today's Formula 1. Pit stops and tactics now play a lead role and drivers need to have a top team around them to ensure they have the best possibility for success. Pit stops in seconds, team leaders and the mechanics all play a crucial role in the driver's success.
Famous drivers like Micheal Schumacher and Lewis Hamilton have taken this sport to new heights with incredible levels of driving skill. Big manufacturers like Mercedes and Ferrari battle it out with huge super brands like Red Bull in a racing landscape that's exciting, competitive and exhilarating. With tracks now in every corner of the globe, it's a worldwide sport, where will it lead us next?
